Adios Barcelona! I miss you already! The three of is had so much fun during our two days in Barcelona. We arrived early evening on Wednesday and left this morning for Lyon. During our first night we went out for tapas. Tapas are the best thing that's ever happened, actually 1€ tapas are. We had so much fun trying all the different tapas. After our first tapas experience we got Churros and hot chocolate with cream- YUM! After our night of eating after 12 hours of train travel we went to bed and got the first full night sleep in over two weeks.
Yesterday we put on cute summer clothes and started on our Barcelona adventure! We began on at Paulu Güell and Las Ramblas and the open air market for breakfast. They had amazing fruit and juices. Which was a nice change of pace because the only fruit we have had was in Croatia and the kilo of dried figs that we are still snacking on.
From Las Ramblas and the Gothic Quarter we continued down Passieg de Gracia, the Newbury street of Barcelona. We also got to see La Pedrea and all the other Gaudi structures on that street. They're so beautiful! We continued our self guided walked tour to Parc Güell. Park Güell was beautiful and had the most gorgeous view of the city from the top.
The best part of being our own tour guides is that when we want to go to the beach we do! We grabbed tacos on Las Ramblas andwalked back to the hostel, put on our suits and walked to La Barceloneta beach.
Being on the beach was so nice! The Mediterranean is so beautiful, and the sun was so hot. I got a little burnt, don't tell mom! Being on the beach made me so excited for sitting on West with all of you this summer, our own personal Mediterranean.
We were at the beach until dusk and went back to change and have our second round of tapas and sangria! The three of us had more tapas on our individual plates than whole tables did, we had to try everything!
Barcelona was amazing and I can't wait to go back someday and spend more time taking in the city. I was also really impressed at how much Spanish I remembered and how I was able to communicate. We are now on our way to Lyon. I can't believe we only have three cities left! This trip has gone by so fast, I can't believe it. Before I know it I will be back sitting at the island in the kitchen with mom and Alyss not skipping a beat.
Love,
Al
