Roma, Roma, Roma!
We had so much fun in Rome. We arrived early yesterday morning and hit the ground running. We dropped our bags off at the hotel, grabbed our last and third whole pizza each and then hopped on the metro to the Vatican Walls. We waited over two hours to get in. There was an awesome gelato place near the line where we all took turns getting our comes. The wait was so worth it, a school field trip even took us in so we didn't get harassed by the vendors. The Sistine Chapel was so amazing, and went above and beyond what I thought it was going to be like. I didn't realize how many other murals and areas made up that building. We then went to St. Peter's. It was really amazing to be in the Vatican during the holiest week of the year and the Monday after Palm Sunday. It was totally buzzing.
From the Vatican we went to the Spanish Steps where we window shopped by Chanel and Pucci. We grabbed our tenth gelato in the past five days and we climbed the Steps and sat with our cones. The view was amazing.
Our last stop before dinner was the Trevi Fountain. Movies don't give the fountain justice at all. It's so beautiful. The water is so blue and the statues are so detailed, everyone there looked so happy tossing their wishes into the fountain.
We found an adorable restaurant where we had our last outdoor meal in Italy. We went all out! Vino, bruschetta, aranchini and spaghettini Chanel, a yummy lobster cream sauce dish. Our waiter gave us a hard time about giving us bread... First he lied and said no they don't have it and then said "too heavy for all your meals," but he was wrong. It was actually perfect. He probably would've dropped dead at the five decently sized pastries we each bought on the walk home, canolis, cream puffs, cake, tiramisu, cookies, ect. When in Rome...
Our last day in Italy was belissimo! It is sad to leave, but I know I will be back soon. We are now on a train to spend the day in Monte Carlo, Monaco and the night in Nice.
Ciao ciao, Italia!
