Okay, no school internet so a day later than planned an update on Bue. Apologies for my usual efficiency
Do I like Bue? I guess yes. It's not simply the 35+ degee weather either as it can be very humid and sweaty out here. I've a photo which I can't add here of 'perfumeria Alan' which sounds like a rather good idea. It really is a big city but all you need to see is central. I walk everywhere and feel safe irrespective of the time. The city is really quite run down but clean. Yes the pavements can often be war zones ready to break ankles while roads are for 4x4's in the main (thankfully few of them around). You see plenty of street cleaners and people take a bit more care using bins. A really nice thing is the majority (not all) of people are aware they're not the only ones on the pavements so (usually unless window shopping) move to let you past or stand in such a way as to not block the movement of people. There's a fair amount of greenery too. I did however visit the famous local gardens and was really disappointed as there was nothing to be seen, the Japanese garden had actually disappeared and the botanics were full of nice trees and loads of cats (mum + dad would love it) but otherwise nothing of note. Still, the people provide the city with it´s best characterisitc- it's a chilled, relaxed place. Food is ok if unadvernturous/ bland. It's also more espensive than thought but I think Chile will be cheaper (I expected them to be the same).
I've been at school 2 days and am disappointed at how little I remember from Barcelona and my CD's. The quality of teaching is not yet giving me great confidence but I do seem to understand a lot more when listening to the teacher. I can't speak any more.... yet! I am also not in contact with other students so my plans to be sociable are not working. C'est la vie. I did manage to hand wash my clothes (yes there's a cheap laundry on the street) so that was interesting I am about to start to plan where I go after from here so guess I will write in a few days if something else comes up.
Until then
Hasta Pronto
Alan xx
