Howdy Doody
Ok peeple, weve done a bit of skipping around, currently located in Sihanoukviille, or Snooky for short. We did everything we said we would. fired an AK47 and a UZI sub machine gun and lobbed a couple of traiining grenades.
Angkor Wat was just amazing, we went with our friends, Alice and Ian, Ya have to get a pass 1st, $20 but Aly got in free cos shes under 12, what a palaver though cos they didnt believe us, cos shes so tall, lol. We had a friendly little Tuktuk driver who took us to the 3 main Wats. Didnt want to do too many cos ya can get a bit of temple fatigue. It didnt matter where you looked it was a superb photo shot, Aly is uploading more pics as Im typing this. Bayon and TaProm are pretty much in ruins with trees and such growing through it, wow. TaProm is the classic tomb raider shot, Oh!manOh!manOh!man it was awesome, I was dragging my jaw around. as it got darker we left the temple complex and headed back to SR, as it was getting near to beer o'clock and we were hungry too. Me and Aly packed our stuff up and were ready to get on the bus for Phnom Penh at 7am the next morning, Aly not beiing too impressed at the ungodly hour, but we were in the capital on time, shock horror, after all the horror stories about travel in Camdodia, their buses ran on time, were comfortable and with passable aircon, I cant say the same for Thai buses!!!
No messing about, check into Tonys', which is actually Peters? Jump on a motorbike taxi out to the killing fields, which is just pretty gruesome, I wont go into details about it here or about S21, the interrogation block, which we visited after. Its far too upsetting, I may tell you about it on our return!
It rained, well thats an understatement. The roads ran like rivers deep too. Phnom Penh did not come to a standstill, people carried on as usual, the drains were useless cos the Mekhong is so high, inundated from excessive rainfall all the way down from Tibet. the only apparent problem this caused was one take away company couldn't deliver to Tonys'. No one wrung their hands and worried if they were covered under their insurance, or cried over their DFS sofa on national TV, business as usual. UK population, take note!
Jumped the afternoon bus outta town, 4 hours to Sihanoukville(Snooky) just dark as we got there, 2 brothers on motorbikes helped us to check into a hotel eventually, a right fleapit for 10 bucks, and I saw the Grandma of the hotel give 1 of the brothers a kickback, so I have a slight feeling of being scammed, Oh well. Got a nice sea front place this morning, $6 a night but no TV, heaven forfend! lol. had brekkie at Daras' and ben having a laugh with some of the local beach sellers.
Feel so bad! So many paraqplegic land mine victims begging, cant give them all money, but want to give them something useful. So we have decided to give them a couple of cigarettes each. Its been a dilemma I can tell you.
Were at the beach so time to hit it
That all folks
