After a very long drive from The Dalles Oregon through Ontario Oregon and the Salmon-Challis National Forest we made it to Challis. We chose Challis becasuse it was the only place or so we thought that had oom available in the zone of totality. This would allow us not to drive anywhere the morning of the eclipsae if we chose to do so. After findong out that booking com screwed up our reservation the staff at the Villiage Inn stepped up and provided us a room in their own house. So between the stress of finding out we didnt have a reservation and the long drive we did stay in town. This turned out to be a great dissision. The eclipse was an amazing experience. Andrea wasnt sure at first but as totality approched she got more into it and was thrilled with the whole experience. After we packed up my camera gear we drove 60 mins south to the town of MacKay to meet up with friends from Tabor Alberta who also came down to see the eclipse. Then on to Mack's Inn for a couple nights.
