Day 40: Saturday 26th March: Melbourne - Australia.
We landed safely in Melbourne airport and were met by Aunty Bear and Uncle Nick before heading back to their place to Skype the families back in the UK for a much needed catch up session.
We then headed out for the most amazing breakfast at the Velvet Bar; it was literally the biggest meal we had ever seen, AJ typically went for the Pancakes with fruit which were ridiculous in size!
We then headed back home for a nap before driving to Beacon cove where we walked along the beachfront and into the town whih was great fun.
A nice chilled evening with a film before hitting bed to catch up on some much needed sleep.
Day 41: Sunday 27th March: Melbourne - Australia.
Today we had a day out to explore Black Rock where we had a great beach walk and played some Aussi Rules Football.
Lunch at Ricketts Point Tearooms with some smoothies were greatly received, I had definitely got my normal appetite back after Asia!
Next stop was more fun on the beach with Uncle Nick's kite and paddling in the freezing cold sea (a bit of a change from the warm bathlike water we had been used to in Koh Tao!)
Day 42: Monday 28th March: Lorne, Great Ocean Road - Australia.
Today was an early start as we headed off at 6.30am to beat the rush hour traffic in Melbourne to get down to the Great Ocean Road. AJ slept the whole way until we stopped for breakfast, conveniently enough. Yet again another huge meal to start the day!
The beach was the next stop where we saw some incredible surfers who made it look so easy and definitely made us excited to try it out ourselves! From there we then went onto Bells Beach with yet more surfers practising for the upcoming international competition! Class!
We then drove along the Great Ocean Road which was spectacular! The most incredible road and such good views all along it! We then hit Lorne, had a walk along the high street and had some drinks in Arab Cafe.
Next we reached our cottage where I was instantly attacked by Parrots and Cockatoos! We settled into the gorgeous cottage before heading back down to the beach for some bodyboarding in the freezing cold sea!
A BBQ that evening was a perfect end to the night!
Day 43: Tuesday 29th March: Lorne, Great OCean Road - Australia.
Today was Zoe's Birthday and we started the day's celebrations off with balloons and banners and a BBQ fry up to start the day on the balcony! Perfect weather!
Then a stop off for a coffee in town was required, chilling on the beach in deckchairs watching the morning surfers was great fun!
Next we headed further along the Great Ocean Road towards Kennet River to see Koalas. The coastal scenery was immense and only got better as we reached the Great Otway National Park. We saw so many Koalas fast asleep high up in the Gum trees.
We stopped off at plenty of look out spots along the way back towards Lorne and then had another BBQ overlooking Lorne and then headed back down to the beach for some more bodybuilding until the sun had set behind us!
Tea was Fish and Chips for the Birthday Tea before cake and treats that evening back at the cottage.
Day 44: Wednesday 30th March: Lorne, Great Ocean Road, Australia.
Today was Surf day! We hired a board and wetsuits (needed as the sea was too cold to stay in for that long!) and hit the beach! We both managed to get up quite a few times, but were shattered each time that we did. Surfing is a lot harder than it looks! But definitely gave us a taste for it and wanted to do it again further up the East Coast!
Lunch down on the beach was awesome before heading to Teddy's Lookout to see a incredible view of the Great Ocean Road. On the way back from the lookout we casually saw a Kangaroo chilling in someone's front yard standing perfectly for photo's! Amazing!
Me and Nick then played Tennis that evening before having tea on the balcony. Great Day!
Day 45: Thursday 31st March. Lorne, Great Ocean Road, Australia.
We headed up to Erskine Falls this morning before we completed the 8km walk back down into the town. This was a great walk but was really hard going as it was literally going through forest all the way with plenty of trees and boulders to climb!
We made it to the end of the walk where Zoe and Nick met us and a very much appreciated Cream Tea was waiting for us! Yay!
The walk had taken most of the day and so we got some meat from the Supermarket and headed down to the Beach for another BBQ by the roackpools and then flew Nick's kite again on the beach, such a great day!
That night we toasted marshmallows on our fire back at the cottage and watched a movie, a great end to the day!
Day 46: Friday 1st April. Lorne, Great Ocean Road, Australia.
We checked out of the cottage this morning and then played a very competitive round of crazy golf before heading down into town for a farewell coffee along the Pier and another Ice-Cream before leaving Lorne and heading back to Melbourne.
Along the way we stopped off at a Gentle Annie's farm where we picked strawberries and had another amazing smoothie and a good old Aussie Pie!
We made it back to Melbourne late that afternoon and headed out for Pizza before watching a movie and chilling that evening.
