Day 38: Thursday 24th March. Journey from Koh Tao to Phuket. By Chris.
We started early this morning and headed off to the port in the back of a pick up truck (local taxi service) to board our Catamaran towards Koh Phangan where we would then change boats and head to Koh Samui before reaching the mainland and boarding our bus towards Phuket. Unfortunately the speed of the boat, the size of the waves and the amount of Whiskey consumed the previous night whilst partying made the trip slightly harder for some. In a nutshell - AJ was throwing up whilst at sea (remember what happened back in Bangkok on one of our first few days?!)
Once we had reached the mainland we got on what can only be described as the worst bus ever known to man!!! The rain outside had obviously taken its toll on the roof of the bus as every Air Conditioning vent was dripping with water the entire 6 hour journey. We had noticed this once we got on and subsequently moved seats to the back where it was dry, only to then watch a poor Aussie get soaked for the duration! We laughed quite a bit at his misfortune!
We were eventually dropped off 5km away from Phuket Airport (where we were hoping to be dropped off at) so along with a few german backpackers bartered down a Taxi and reached the airport. We decided it would be easier for us to sleep in the airport that night as we had an early moring flight to Singapore, and wanted to save some money. So we found the best seats available and settled in for the night after dinner at Subway (yes, we are cultured!) The singing cleaners throughout the night made it hard to actually get to sleep but the long journey made it easy enough to drift off.
