Day 44
We had to get up at 5am this morning in order to cover all we wanted to by 2pm, when we were meeting the new bus at the Bolivian border. Unfortunately my arm decided to play up and so I was rendered incapable of successfully packing my own bag (thank you for helping Victoria)
Our first stop was the stone tree, which is a series of volcanic rock formations, one of which is shaped sorta like a tree. Now they're in the middle of a freezing and windy desert, but nevertheless I'm still glad I saw it.
Next stop was the border of a national park, where Rodrigo had to stop and pay our entrance fee, and Lauren decided that now was the time to get her llama photo; therefore we climbed up a hill to get some close up photos of llamas whilst everyone else waited in the nice warm cars *sighs*
After paying the entrance we finally got in to see Laguna Colorada, or the Red Lagoon, which is a massive lake containing a special type of plankton that makes the water appear red. Although because it's winter here a lot of the surface of the lake was frozen and so was ice coloured rather than red, still looked really awesome though. Apparently flamingoes are actually white, but because they eat so much of this red plankton they turn pink! #coolorwhat
Up next were the Geysers, which are effectively holes in the ground full of molten metal and lava
