So today we awoke to the sound of rain beating down on the roof of the camper. Good start to the day!
Unfortunately it didn't get any better the rest of the day as we were drenched with the fine rain that soaks you through. We had planned to do the walking tour from the lonely planet guide but didnt feel too enthusiastic about that idea with the current weather so we opted instead to pay a visit to the local cinema to see 'International' starring Clive Owen.
"Is it any good?" I hear you ask.
Well, to answer your question, Its ok, nothing special. Dodgy ending as well.
To explain the main goal of the day as well by the way, the number one single priority was finding a suitable establishment to treat ourselves to a proper beef Wellington. The guide book recommended 'The Tasting Room', but having marched up there we found out that they weren't serving main courses until after 3pm - hence the trip to the cinema (to kill some time and get out of the rain).
We did also consider the museum which is apparently the biggest in New Zealand but having read a bit about it, it sounds very similar to Auckland museum which we had already visited.
Back to the beef Wellington, It was worth waiting for. I'd go as far as to say it was AMAZING. Close your eyes and picture perfectly cooked fillet steak (pink in the middle but not too much in the way of blood), parcelled in bacon, puff pastry and chicken liver pate topping, sitting upon a bed of perfectly cooked and seasoned potatoes and onion with a drizzle of rich gravy. Oh god, im salivating just thinking about it...
Dont worry, you can see for yourself as Aimee got pictures (as usual). She's so embarassing.
We also managed to run into Max and Caroline in a cyber cafe in town which was weird. We said we might see them again but we didnt imagine it would be that quick!
That was pretty much it and we're now back at the camper listening to the rain beating down (still). The ferry to the south island is booked for 1pm tomorrow, hopefully the new setting will bring a change in weather!
A & M xx
