So I would have to be the only person that goes to the desert and it rains!!! Last morning in Vegas it was chucking it down and it continued all the way back (by the way I put $1 in the 1 cent slot machine and won back $13!)
Anyway back to LA and I was knackered and went straight to bed. Apparently that evening there was an earthquake measuring 3.3 but I slept right through it!
Next day was the LA city bus tour. I was picked up at 9am and dropped off at 4pm and we covered the whole of LA - over 90 miles!
First up went to Venice to see the canals and then Venice beach and Santa Monica. Passed some dog hotels with luxury spas on the way - only in LA! Through chinatown, little mexico, financial district, downtown and Hollywood boulevard where we got totally stuck in traffic as the police had closed the roads off for the torch procession for the special olympics. On to the hollywood bowl view where we got great views up to the Hollywood sign, a tour of the stars homes, a trip to Bel Air past the playboy mansion, and on to beverley hills and rodeo drive where I went in to the Beverley Wiltshire where Richard Gere stayed in Pretty Woman! We came back along sunset strip and back into Holywood. Outside the Kodak theatre are aload of celeb lookalikes, it's quite surreal wandering past spiderman climbing on some scaffolding, sponge bob square pants, marylin monroe and elvis!
The following day I went for a wander round Hollywood as my hostel was literally 5 mins from the walk of fame. Went to visit Ripleys Believe it or Not which had some seriously weird and wonderful exhibits, the guiness records exhibition which was pretty good and the wax museum which was like a very poor mans madame tussauds!
That night I went to a burger bar in the Roosvelt hotel and got the biggest burger I've seen in my life. It took about 5 mins to order as they want to know which kind, how it's cooked, which cheese, toppings, sauces etc etc but it was amazing when it arrived and I could only eat half of it. While I was there the barman arrived to say a drink had been sent across to me - by a 21 year old it transpired! Still getting ID'd left right and centre for anything and everything, why you have to be 21 to get in to some of the attractions I don't know.
Following day as it was my last I decided to go to Universal Studios which was great fun. Went on loads of rides including the new simpsons one which is a simulator but you feel like you're on a really fast roller coaster, Jurassic Park, The Mummy, they were all fab and had a tour of the studios where I took loads of photos. They were filming desperate housewives while we were there.
After that on to Fiji...
