Aimee & Hanna's adventures in asia
Day after an amazinnnnng trek
checked out of MD house and checked into eagle house, dead cheap!! 158b each. Went to do some much needed laundry and hopped into a tourist information center to ask about visas for vn. Think we're just going to get them off the internet. Walked around and had melon and shakes and visited the art and culture museum. Both had an oil massage which was, nice.... and different. I thought the towel was to keep you covered. or not as the case is here in Thailand. We had a mani and pedicure and the whole lot cost us 8 pounds!!!! :) :) headed back to shower and went out for dinner, had pizza salad and bread. FOOD BABY. After we picked up our washing we headed over to juiles a reallllly cool hostel, miran and the two dutch girls are staying here so we just had a cheeky drink with them
Checked out off the hotel and had breakfast in this really cool fairtrade hippy place, hung around here for a while before grabbing a tuk tuk to the bus station. For 72 bhat (just over a quid) you can get an old school health hazzard bus all the way to pai, a four hour cramped journey.
Landed in pai in one piece and checked into this really cool hotel... there separate huts with hammocks and your own bathroom, Mirans staying here so we're all gonna meet up for a roam about. We actually bumped into her and a new girl allegia, all went back to shower and headed out to dinner. We went ot this little hip place just over the road, its full of books from floor to ceiling they grow their own herbs in the room and theres loads of different teas to try. o yeh and the seats are all swings hung from the trees growing in the cafe :) we headed to this cool little bar and had a quite drink, and agian the seats are swings. Pai is awesome! Hippy centreal, its more relaxed than the rest of Thailand and really small. Met the other two in the morning headed over to the cool place over the road and had a massive bowl of porridge made with coconut milk. Filling but im not sure about the coconut milk. After a slightly rushed breakfast, we headed over to a yoga class. It was really good! The teacher was a little crazy and to say she was in her 60s, god she was flexable! The place was a little dark and needed a good clean. We did some classic yoga moves and some new ones.... and then she made us stand on our heads! Good job there was a wall (if you can call thin, broken and quite frankly a wall that would cave straight in if you were over 13 stone) and good balance. Had lunch and atrempted to rent out mopeds, (we wouldnt any where else in Thailand but Pai is dead quite and not alot of traffic on the roads. Besides theres no buses or taxis and its too far out to walk... dont worry mum, we were careful) Because neither of us had ridded one before we werent able to get on out that day. so we rented out push bikes. (BIG MISTAKE) we cycled about 5km to some hot springs, only it felt like forever, so hot and the uphill biking didnt help.... think of the legs! Finally got to the hot springs, pretty cool like getting a communal bath "Wheres me shower gel" Id definatley recommend going but i think they'd be more apreciated if they werent similar temperature as outside! Some of Mirans friends came that she'd met in Chaing mai so we chilled with them for abit. Headed back and freshened up. Waited for the now expanded group and headed out for dinner, after headed to the same bar as yesterday and had a couple of cocktails they to another cool place where you sit on cushions on the floor and drink. All dead tired so headed back for beauty sleep. Handed in our bikes a rented out peds!! :) Pretty nervous but we took our time... all good! Headed to find some waterfalls with the group (Miran and allegria, Alex, J and cc) We tried and failed miserabley. Belted it down with rain found shelter and chilled for abit. Aimee and I heade back because earlier in the day we'd bumped into the french from the trek :) and weremeeting them for drinks aswel. Had a tasty red dry curry for tea and a chocolate pancake nom nom nom. Back on Mirrans balacony we all had loaddds of drinks. Headed to a small bar over the road for drinks and watched a copied hangover 2. Frenchies came in a little drunk in the end they had a massive argument so we made a dash for the door and went to bed. Had a farewell breakfast for Mirran who was flying to bali that day, We both checked out of our room and into allegrias (next door) it was a bigger hut and a hugeeee bed. Eventually we all found the waterfalls even though you cant swim in them. rode about abit and had lunch before spending the rest of the afternoon in a public pool... our group were the only ones there. showered and had dinner. Met with the other and headed to the little bar over the road... all got a little tipsy. The guy who owed it said after he'd closed we could all go swimming so we did... spot of skinny dipping in the dark in a hotel pool, good job there were no security guards :) Jay missed he's bus back to chaing mai like a wolly so we all grabbed brunch, jay caught the next bus back, alex and corrina both left so we just mooched about. Hanna had two dreadlocks put in, met up with algerqa had dinner, internet cafe drinks and wondered about. not really done alot today. After breaky we checked out and caught the bus back to chaing mai, 72baht!! took a while and it was really cramped, too bloddy hot and smelt funky (in a verrrry bad way) but 72 baht thats awesomeeee!. checked in at julies hostle, why we didnt come here last time is beyond me. Its so cheap 70 baht anight, theres loads of fellow backpackers its awesome! and for a hostle its really clean. had noodle soup fr tea and wondered to md house (where we stayed last time) to see if they had my lovely north face jacket.... no luck :( :( got back to julie's and bumped into jay, had a few beers and headed to bed. Ok so we're writting this abit too late in total we had two nights at julies nothing ammmazing happened, had a mani and pedi done got our flights booked for phuket... and wednesday rocked up at bamboo and spa resort for 6 pound a night you cant go wrong. its really nice. AND has a pool :) Chilled by the pool in the morning and late afternoon wave jumped in the sea :) Back to hotel, showered and headed out. Got a free taxi from the resort to the town. Although phuket has some really nice beaches is really seedy and touristy so we just walked about and purchased boat tickets to phi phi the next day. So we checked out and left our bags in the hotel grabbed breakfast and walked along the beach, back at hotel waited for the taxi. Came on time but we waited ages for the other people to hurry up. The b*****s didnt turn up... best not miss the boat. Its fine we made the time up with the speedy driving :/ I imaged the boat to be different its looks abit like a double decker bus. Took about an hour, and the island is amazing! blue sea and white sand. This is the life. got a hotel, we're staying in little bamboo huts on the rocks, shame about the trees in front it blocks out most of the view, shared a piza for tea and headed to a really cool hippy bar watched a fire show at a different bar. Not bad. headed back to bed . Walked along the beach really windy! so we didnt swim. wondered about. bumped into alex so we met with him later for drinks with his other friends. Partied on the beach and got pretty drunk. Rainned all day :( and not just a little bit... it made rivers. No day trips were going out so we mooched. All day. Boat trip to Krabi wasnt running because it was too stormy so we grabbed the boat back to phuket checked into the worst hotel ever!! ewwwww you cant really call it a hotel, we can see throught the floor boards, the walls are paper thin, beds dead hard, smells gross and you can here everyone in the other rooms going about the daily buisness. For 125 baht each i think we'd prefer to sleep in a shed. O wait, we are. one night only, one night only. Arrived in surit turni finally. took forever. the boats werent running so we checked into another hotel grrr. next day. got the pier and made way to koh toa :) in koh toa we headed straight to big blue diving resort. Dumped the bags and I ( hanna) had a briefing and watched videos. Aimee just chilled and eyed up the beach. oo yeh alex is here too. 1st day of diving (hanna) met our groups, Im with alex and brazilian japanese lady called nancy and a french guy jon, we were ment to fill in the boring paper work first but dave "massive" our instructor prefered to get straight out there and dive away. Not nervous. Yet. Got on tour gear, ooo yes i look sexy, nooot! oo dear. he showed us the equipment fitted our fins. its soooo strange. in the pool i got really nervous, didnt like it at all, i felt really clostrophobic and sick. just breath. my brain was telling me but my mouth wanted to hold it.... i am under water!! anyway after panicing a little, focused on my breathing, we had to practice skills. Underwater. (o god) had to remover the regulator (breathing bit) out find it and wack it back in. fill our masks with water and empty it, take off the masks and put back on. sounds easy, only when you take off the mask, automatically i want to to breath up my nose. Not good. Next pool stood on the bottom and was breathing haha ot was weird. Lunch time. Back to dave and did the boring paper work took the test. passed. While hanna was diving (aimee) had a walk to the far end of the beach and discovered some new bars and shops to check out. teatime. bars and bed Day two of diving first proper dive!! took a boat to japaneze gardens, had trouble at first really didnt want to drown. WOOOOOW! its amazing! im 8 m and standing on the seabed and theres loads of colourful fish swim through my legs, passed my mask. Different world! Im coming back as a fish when i die. Dive two was hard! headed to the othe dive site "twins" it was choppy and the current was too stong so we came up earlier. Day 3 of diving. AMAZING! 630 am start straight to the first dive. Another world! Dive 2.. alittle scared if im honest, we have to complete the skills from yesterday... 18m deep. biiiig gulp. I PASSED!! swam about, chilled and checked out the fish. oops i swam to 22 m by accident, as an open water diver im only alous to 18, but dave thought it was funny. chilled with aimee but dead tired sunbathed and slept. we watched the video of the dive but it was too expensive to buy 2500 bhat (50quid!!) i went to bed and aimee , the dirty stop out waltzed in at 230 partying with alex :) .
