We made it through the night and actually both slept well which was a bonus. It is still far too cold for a shower so a quick wash and a breakfast then we were away.
The roads are a lot more aggressive than yesterday and we have been thrown all over the van.
We stopped off to see a pack a wild llamas wandering past before heading towards the volcano's which were unmissable on the horizon. Arriving at the at base our interest was taken just as much by the small rocks than the volcano itself. Re-arranging rocks to spell our names and once finished, proudly taking pictures of our accomplishment.
With all pictures taken, next was a lagoon in amongst the mountains that had hundreds of flamingos, with our guide jesting that's what we were eating for lunch.
It was another long drive to where we were staying and with some toilet breaks, chances for photos and a game of humbugs we paid our entrance fee to the national park and had a look at our communal bedroom. We had heard some horror stories of twenty to a room and other rooms with windows but no glass so were had low expectations. The room had windows and it was only us six in the room so higher than we had anticipated.
Abigail was again struck with altitude sickness and at 4200 metres above sea level you can hardly blame her. She stayed in the room to recover and I went to take on a mountain. The mountain won! It would have been possible with numerous stops but as the sun was gradually getting closer to setting behind the opposite mountains the sensible part inside said to head back having reached about half way.
There was was tea and biscuits waiting when arriving back and Abigail seemed to be feeling a little better. The cards were bought out again for game which was highly contested and evenly won. It was only stopped by the serving of food, where we were all informed it was a 4:30 start tomorrow. With dinner polished off and all feeling the cold everyone went to bed this time with a scarf, hat, three jumpers and four blankets, as well as our sleeping bags as we have been told it will be colder tonight than last night.
