Moving to Freo
(Read previous blog for my last weekend in Margaret River)
I packed everything up Monday morning and cleaned the house all in less than two hours. I was hoping it would take longer because I had nothing else to do except a lunch date and didn't want to leave until late that afternoon. So I made it to 1:00 and I met Jen from work for lunch at More Café to say goodbye and give her some tips for her trip to San Francisco and New York, she is a fun girl and I really liked working with her, eventhough she does love good gossip a little too much.It was nice to say goodbye since I didn't get the change at work. I left a note and rent, knowing Mandy would be talking at work for days about me not saying goodbye, but i didn't really care. I mean isn't that how they do things here, just say peace out and bail? I'll probably never see her again anyway. On to Freo. The drive to Fremantle was straight and boring especially when it started to get dark, I thought a lot in the still darkness with no radio and no entertainment, but I made it alright.
Perfect for me, my friend Sarah had a few extra rooms in her house at that moment so I snached one up the same day a roommate moved out. I think it will be nice to live with young people in a city especially after the past couple months. I will be living with Del, Tim, an American guy who will move in next week and the American girl Allie who I met when I was here before.I woke up Tuesday morning and started my day with coffee at X-Wray café, really friendly staff and amazing coffee, I am definitely going to become a local there (too bad they weren't hiring). I walked around the city all day, passing out my resume and enjoying the sun. I do really like it here. I handed my last resume to the guy at Aubergine café around the corner from my house and luckily they are hiring. I stopped by again yesterday morning and they want me to come in Friday morning for a trial run.Today I was sick of looking for jobs so I decided to take a break until tomorrow, although I thought about asking at every store I went into. I didn't really know what to do with myself but it ended up being a really nice day. I walked to the center of town where there was a little market, a few tables of jewelry and a couple food stands. There was a band playing so I sat on the bricks around a tree and listened to the cruisy acoustic melodies. I was starting to get hungry so I bought a Pupusa from a Salvatorian food stand and it was so amazing that I bought another about an hour later. It's made from a sort of thick maize tortilla stuffed with white cheese and kidney beans and they put some grated cabbage and carrots ontop with a little spicy juice, so good. So I sat there for awhile and wandered into some boutique shops later before heading back and hopefully going to yoga again. Last night my housemate Del and I went for an adventure into the city for some Bikram yoga, he is training for the national tree climbing competition in three weeks so wants to get in shape fast (won second place in regionals). We put a new spin on a triathalon as I biked to the train station while he longboarded, short break, then we sprinted up stairs with bikes/boards overhead out of the station and raced through Perth to the yoga studio before class started...ready for extreeeeem yoga! After profusely sweating, bending, stretching and torturing every muscle and organ in my body for 90 minutes, I walked outside into the cool night air now drenched and cold. It was a mellow trip back to the train station but the train was just leaving as we arrived so we had to wait half an hour. It was nice to relax on the train, listening to The Smiths and Sia on my Ipod. I feel so chill after Bikram yoga, it's the most amazing feeling. So I went again tonight with Del but we drove to the studio in Freo, not quite as extreme but saved a lot of time. I bought an unlimited month pass so lets see how many times I will go in the next month especially since I have a Bikram buddy, I'm excited! So tomorrow I get to show off my skills at Aubergine, hopefully I get the job because I'm tired of looking. I'm excited to go to the Freo Markets tomorrow (much bigger than the one today), there was so much cool stuff when I went before and I can't wait for a delicious lunch from one of the stands and I need to buy some groceries for home. Hopefully I'll get to go out tomorrow night too and it's a long holiday weekend for Anzac Day. Anyway I am tired after yoga and ready to go to sleep, goodnight.
