Hi everyone,
It seems I am not going to be able to upload my pictures until I am back in San Jose in 2 weeks time so be ready for a massive upload when I get back.
I am currently in San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica where I am staying tonight. I will meet the rest of my group this evening, but my roommate Alexandra seems very nice and apparently a lot of our group are older and British so this should be interesting!
This week has been pretty quiet because we were given our exams last Friday and they had to be in by next Tuesday, so mine had to be in by today! Thankfully they dont really count for me as UCD doesn't recognise the credits but of course I still wanted to do well. But they are done and that is all that matters.
On Thursday night we had a last dinner together at Pane Vino restaurant an Italian place in Heredia which was really nice and they have the most amazing nutella crepes! It was so nice to get the whole group together for an evening although everyone was still stressed about the exams.
On Friday I went for cake for the last time to Trigo Miel, which has been a fantastic cake shop just outside the university where Elizabeth and I have gone a number of times. It was so sad to be saying goodbye to everyone and Heredia and all the places we have been so far.
Today after packing all my stuff which was really hard I came into San Jose for the afternoon. I wandered around a little and got my bearings as it is a very large and confusing city. I went to the Gold museum which was very interesting, all about how the indigenous people make the gold figurines and they had a fascinating exhibition on currency and how massive inflation in Costa Rica is what has led to the very large bills they have today (10,000 colones is the equivalent of $20.) It was a very interesting museum. I also got to see the national theatre which is a very beautiful building, especially in Costa Rican terms!
So now it is a whole new adventure, 2 weeks traveling around Costa Rica. I am very excited about all the fun things I hope we will be getting to do and see and getting to go to some of the places others visited at the weekends. Fingers crossed all will go well, and I will update you all when I get a chance.
