Vientiane, the capital of Laos is a strange place after the mountains and jungle of the north. Its a polluted and hazy border town that's not really bothered about tourists. It's on the edges of the mekong just across the river, which is very low at the moment as it's dry season, from Thailand.
I walked around searching out some sites. There's a lot of french colonial influence in the architecture and a mini Buddha inspired arc de triomphe as well as many temples. Apart from that...not a lot. I went to see the mekong sunset last night. It was beautiful. But I couldn't escape the insane public aerobics sessions and it's banging tunes going on right behind me. They were loving it. Super weird.
Off to Vietnam today! Pho beckons.
