We pulled into Bali's Denpasar International Airport and were promptly met by a driver with a sign with our names who greeted us and promptly whisked us to the Villa Kresna Hotel where my parents were waiting for us.
I was happy to see that they'd wasted no time in getting into the Holiday spirit...Mom had already lost track of what day of the week it was and Dad was on his way to grab some beers from the corner store. Perfect.
We took their lead and slipped into some swim suits and hit the pool while they caught us up on their trip down and their 2 days in Bali and we caught them up on the last few stops we'd made. They'd gone on a sweet sounding bicycle tour one day and had had a 24 hour lay over in Soeul, South Korea which they made the most of. We...well...we've been up to a bit ourselves...
Eventually, we decided to go for a walk down the beach to check it all out. We walked south as the beach went from swanky Seminyak to middle of the road Legian and finally turned into trashy Kuta. We found a decent spot to slide in for a happy hour Bintang and a quick snack.
The sun was beginning to set on a Sunday evening so the beach was in full swing on the way back. We walked through countless beach soccer games and were amoung the many thousands of locals who were out for a swim, surf or who were just chilling out for a sunset session. For dinner we stopped at the swanky hotel near our hotel and ate a decent, if a little shi-shi, Thai dinner before heading back to call it a night.
In the morning, G and I attacked the beach with running shoes while M&D took a long stroll North of Seminyak. We rendezvoused back at Kresna for a great comp breakfast before packing up our bags and settling in to wait for our driver to come pick us up to take us to Ubud where the real adventure was to begin.
