Hi everyone!
Sorry its been so long since our last blog, but we have been very very busy! Since leaving Brisbane we stopped off at Byron Bay on our way to Sydney. The weather being bad as usual we didnt get to spend all our time on the beach as planned, we did however bump into Liron (a girl we had already met in Oz) and decided to do the Lighthouse walk with her. So off we went trekking to the most easterly point of Australia and all the way up to the lighthouse at byron bay. The walk was great despite it being incredibly windy and spitting with rain, we got to see some great sites, watch all the surfers fall off their boards and climb up trees as if we were kids again! Also along the way we saw lots of blue bottle jelly fish that had been wasjed ashore and died, a random girl informed us if you stamp on them they pop, so obviously we did stamp on it, it popped and blue liquid came flying out everywhere, it was so funny! We weren't creul enough to do it to everyone we saw though! Whilst at byron bay we had the choice of whether we wanted to do a tour in which you came back high! We opted against it, but basically the tour consisted of going to someone house and having "hash" cookies and then seeing a few sights around the area, apparently if you don't smoke then one eighth of a cookie is enough to get you high, the girls we were staying with didn't realise this, and they had 3 cookies each! They came back in such a terrible state went to bed at 6pm and woke up at 9am and were still high! And yes before you ask, this is a perfectly legal and registered tour in Byron Bay!!!!!!! So glad we didn't go!
We left Byron Bay incredibly excited as we were off to Sydney to see Craig (our mate fromm uni that we haven't seen in over a year). We managed to get really cheap accomodation in the red light district of Sydney, which was always very eventful when heading back late at night!!!!! As soon as we got to Sydney we were making plans to meet up with Craig, we ended up spending every last second with him! Whilst in Sydney we got to see all the amazing sights, such as the opera house, harbour bridge, the rocks, and the botanic gardens, it was all so beautiful and lucky for us the weather was good for the whole week we were there! We also went to a few areas around Sydney such as Palm Beach (aka Summer Bay!) We were a little disappointed as there wasn't much to see but we did get to see the surf club and the bit of beach that they always walk up to get to the surf club. It was such a great beach, we could even see dolphins that had come quite close to shore! After that we went on to Manly beach which is just as nice and had lots more surfers to eye up (for me not Adam!) We also went to the famous Bondi Beach with Craig and finally had our first BBQ in Oz, we had mountains of hot dogs that they lasted us right into the next day! After going bowling with Craig and his flatmates, we all took and early night as we were heading off early to the blue mountains. They are called the blue mountains due to the misty haze that surrounds them and gives them a blue tint. We got up very early as it took 2hrs to get there and we wanted to do as much walking as possible! As soon as we got there we headed for the giant steps, they only took 20minutes to get down, but your legs felt really wobbly at the bottom after walking down too many steps! The boys then went one way to an area that was meant to be closed off but they later discovered that they could go that way and climb up the broken part of the ladder that was caused by a land slide. Having come face to face with a spider on their journey im now very glad i didn't go that way! Instead i headed back up the giant steps (only took 35 minutes to get back up so thats not too bad!) and off on a different walk to meet them at the other end! After we met up we did even more walking and then jumped back on the train to head back in time for drinks for our last night in Sydney. In total i think i walked about 15km and Adam even further! Not a bad bit of exercise! That evening being too worn out to go out, we stayed at Craigs and got very drunk and talked about all the old times from uni, which was great!
The next day we went to the market and bought lots of fudge for our journey to Melbourne and said goodbye to Liron (who we had met again in Byron Bay) and then made our way back to Craigs to say goodbye to him too! After an emotional goodbye we left for the overnight bus to Melbourne (we have manged to pursuade Craig to come back for xmas though!).
We arrived in Melbourne safe and sound, and both now ill with tonsilitus as i passed it on to adam! We will update you shortly on our adventures in Melbourne (which includes meeting a few of the Neighbours stars) So watch this space!
Hope you are all well, we miss you all as usual! We hope Amy, Katie and Jessica are having fun back at school! xxxxx
