hey everyone! by adam!
We left frank in Singapore early morning and we headed for the airport for our flight to Sydney and then a connecting flight to Melbourne which meant we weren't going to arrive in Melbourne until midnight and it was going to be a really long day!
However luck was on our side, our Sydney flight was delayed meaning we would miss our connecting flight!.....bonus!! Qantas put us up in a nice hotel and gave us free all you can eat dinner haha so we had potato salad, smoked ham joint, rice, beef stew and crispy buns and to finish off we had chocolate cake and lemon sponge cake. We made ourselves sick haha but still managed to smuggle a few cakes in our bag for later!!
Next morning ....you guest it ... all you can eat breakfast!! Pancakes, sausages ,bacon ,eggs and chocolate waffles!! And we rescheduled our flight for 1 o clock mid day so we had a lie in and arrived in Melbourne at a reasonable hour!
Luck was on our side again because i got talking to a man on the plane and he offered to give us a lift from the airport for free; door to door service. I know we were told not to take lifts off strangers but he seemed okay!
Our first night in Melbourne was quite daunting especially coming from Asia where we ate out every night and had all our laundry done for us but Australia is mega expensive compared to Asia! For example in asia we were paying 5 pound a night for a private double room with en-suit, tv, air con and sometimes included breakfast however in OZ we were paying 17pound each per night and that was for a dorm room with bunk beds haha so you can see how fast you money goes if your paying 34 pound a day for 2 and a half month!
When it comes to cooking you have to cook all your own food in the communal kitchen and when you first get there everybody is whizzing about the kitchen and you don't know where anything is or what to do and you end up just standing there like a lost kitten haha Some of these people are working in OZ so they've been there a while and some of them tend to think they own the place so its a little intimidating. This didn't last long though you just get involved and muck in, and the cooking your own food malarkey gets quite enjoyable as it becomes part of your day.
Anyway moaning over! We were staying at st Kilda which is situated right on the coast and minutes from the city centre. We were surprised how cold Melbourne was compared to Singapore it was freezing! Lol obviously still hotter than back home in England where you's are suffering from minus 20 haha we spent 4 days in Melbourne and just used these days to have a stroll about the beach and we saw some penguins lol weird! We also used this time to sort out our transport up the east coast and we wanted to do the great ocean road trip soon so we sorted that out aswell.
Love adam and louise xx

dad / paul Hi son, I reckon that adds up to £2500 at those rates better find yourself some cheaper digs! What have I told you about talking to strangers...but if they're offering you free lifts in the car to see some puppies ...i suppose thats ok then LoL. Your spot on with the food malarky thing weve been doing it for years back home including putting your bait up each morning but you get used to it and it even becomes enjoyable - Miss doing it now though ha ha.
