Westport!
The most pointless stop on the kiwi bus, we were going to use this stop as a chill out and we were only staying one night and apparently it had a kitchen that Jamie Oliver would love!! So we were looking forward to it because out of all the places we've been the one thing we like in a hostel is a nice clean kitchen, the general rule is if it has a good kitchen the overall standard is good. However upon arrival we checked in and our eagerness was punished because we got taken to the big dorm room with its rubbish en-suite kitchen. We walked straight past the lovely kitchen and straight into our ugly tin shed with a mass shared bedroom, so we tried complaining but our attempts were terrible, but everything happens for a reason and we ended up meeting Pam and Eildih (ayley) from Edinbrough, i know what you're thinking............. how the hell do i pronounce that name, so for the purpose of reading this blog just pronounce it Hayley without the H, that's how i do it.
We had a good laugh, and we cooked another sausage casserole with Megan who we met from Waitomo. We talked about how good Edinbrough was and then soon went onto talking about how better Newcastle was haha Eildigh (ayley) has made the excellent decision to study at Newcastle university, so hopefully we will catch up next September.
Once we had our tea we did the one thing that was considered good in Westport and that Was to see the sunset and light a fire on the beach legally. There's loads of drift wood on the beach and it was recommended to light a little camp fire on the beach and watch sunset. However when you get five girls together, they can talk and boy oh boy...........they can talk. I tried chipping in every now and then but motor mouth and chatterbox were in the zone so I retired to watch you've been framed. When we did finally head out we walked for about 5 minutes towards the beach and then got a glimpse of the sunset and to be fair it was pretty amazing, we knew we weren't going to make it to the beach in time so we just headed towards the sunset to try get some pictures but we ended up in front of a big fishing factory so all our pictures of the sunset were great but the odd crane and tin shed in the background.
After missing the sunset we still decided to go to the beach to light a fire but we were soon stopped in tracks because nobody had a lighter. Great!! Iv watched Bear Grylles but was still unable to light a fire with sticks. We ended up coming back to the hostel and just chilled out and prepared for our bus ride to the infamous Poo pub where we would have the fancy dress party.
Love Adam Louise and Hayley xxx
