Hello everyone,
We are currently sat in Sydney International Airport waiting to go to Hong Kong, with our final 2 pints of Toohey's New (Did ask for schooners & was given pints - didn't complain). Very sad to be leaving. We have had a brilliant few weeks here.
We carried on doing much the same for our remaining time in Sydney. We splashed out on a fancy hotel as it was our 9 year anniversary of being together. Had a view of Sydney Harbour from the room, looking out onto the Harbour Brige & Opera House. Kept looking out of the window to check it was still there. Unfortunately the weather deteriorated to short periods of light drizzle, but it didn't stop us getting out & about.
Had a cruise on a ferry from Circular Quay around to Darling Harbour when the sun & blue sky returned. Decided to eat out after spending a couple of nights experimenting with cooking in the hotel. Our rate of spending has been a little worrying lately!
On Monday we caught the train down to Shell Harbour, approx 2 hrs south of Sydney. We were met by my (Adam) Great Uncle, 'Harmonica Ron'. We've been staying with Ron & Pam for the past 5 days & being utterly spoiled with an endless supply of tea & a daily fry-up - All very nice.
The Australia part of the trip has been a very relaxing holiday. Completely different to the constant activity & new cultural experiences in India. We're gearing ourselves up for the culture-fest awaiting us in China, by drinking lots of beer & watching Home & Away. Unfortunately, it looks almost certain that our planned trip to Tibet will be cancelled. We're currently sorting out some contingency plan, which will probably involve spending a few weeks in Nepal, but will have to wait for confirmation first.
The promised photos will be on here as soon as possible - haven't had a good opportunity to put them up yet.
Hope you are all doing well back home.
We're off to catch a plane.
