After getting picked up from JoBerg at some silly hour in the morning, myself and two other girls, who were studying in Stellenbosch, arrived at Kasane, the village and gateway to Chobe National Park-one of Botswanas best parks to see elephants...and we weren't dissapointed. The camp we stayed at was a campsite and luxury lodge-so we got swim in the pool, listen to the poolside band and slip cocktails like we were celebraties...even though we were anything but!
We did two game drives, one in the evening and one after sunrise. On both we saw herds of elephant-some with babies so young they were still pink-a sign that they are under one month old. We also saw giraffe, zebra, lions mating-quite a rare thing apparently, and to show us he wasn't scared of us the male almost pounced on our truck...personally I think we got a bit close-but it was amazing to see them so close and to hear thier roars. It is an amazing place, constantly changing due to animals migrating to find water, crosing over into Namibia or Zimbabwe-I feel we were very lucky to share thier space.
