It is amazing where a 40 minute plane from Cusco will take you. I was quite cold in Huaraz and Machu Picchu so we decided for a change to head to the jungle. Puerto Maldonado is close to Cusco so great for a short break. We almost didn´t make it to Cusco. After catching the 7.5 hour bus from Huaraz to Lima we had about 7 hours to kill exploring Lima. And we did it so well that we forgot to get a taxi to the bus! By the time we got in a taxi and then accidentally directed him to the wrong bus station we got to the bus with 30 seconds to spare! I always thought I´d like Cusco a lot more than i do. On Sunday we visited some hot springs an hour out of Huaraz. What an adventure. After trying unsuccessfully to locate the bus that would take us to the hot springs we got in a taxi. The bus to Huaraz fom Lima absolutely sucked more than the 4 planes it took to get us here from Australia. The actual bus is luxury and so secure there are security guards everywhere and they even video you on the bus! It was 7.5 hours but no leg room and my butt still remembered that it was sore from sitting down for 24 hours the day before!
