Breakfast was in the cafe next door to the hotel. It being Friday 13th, I set off in the wrong direction so ended up on the main road again for a while to Piacenza. Then I found some back roads through Cortemaggiore, Busseto to Parma, where it was interesting to see trolleybuses. I stopped for lunch in Parma's attractive Cathedral Square, and met a couple who were cycle touring. She was Polish, he was Italian. Then it was on through Montecchio Emilia to reach Reggio Emilia about 19:30. Then the GPS led me on a wild goose chase back the way I had come (Remember it was Friday 13th!). I had to re-program the Garmin to find the hotel, and when I got there, it was in a location I had been in 40 mins earlier! The hotel was a small Oberge in a small street off a large piazza. I had dinner in a restaurant in the same street, then walked around the town soaking up the atmosphere - it was very busy round the main square.
