On my last day in Hoi An I got up early and like the lunatic I am ran the 5km in the very hot sun to the beach...it has to be said it was one of the more challenging runs of my life but all the more rewarding when I got to dip into the beautiful sea and spend he rest of my day drinking ice cold drinks from my sun lounger, reading and dozing at my leisure...
Finally it was time to head back to my hostel. Not fancying running in the midday heat I set off walking instead. After eating some battered banana , my latest favourite food, from one of the street stalls...usually very tasty but my excessive bartering seemed to land me with some of the less fresh and considerably chewy pieces rather than the nice gooey one's i normally got...i guess that goes to show that you get what you pay for and that the Vietnamese dont like it when you beat them at there own game. I've now made a habbit of making sure that when I barter and get a lower price I don't get fobbed off with the smallest banana's or the dodgiest pineapple...definitely sick of being ripped off haha
I got on the night bus and settled myself into the top bunk and two sleeping pills later I arrived very drousy in Nha Trang at 6AM. I took a moped to my hostel...because when in vietnam...and arrived at the origionally named "Backpacker's House." Too early for check in, I hit the beach and began working on my base sunburn ready for Koh Phangan.
Having been upgraded at no extra charge to an all girls dorm which had an ensuite and 2 TVs and its own computer I spent a very lazy few days in Nha Trang rotating between sunbathing and lounging in my dorm room. I met some very nice Englsih girls who took pitty on me and invited me along with them for dinner. After 3 days here I am now sufficiently red and soon to be sleeping on another bus heading to Ho Chi Minh. I will then be travelling straight on to Cambodia with the aim of reaching Siem Reap and seeing Angkor Wat, the 8th wonder of the world, at both sunrise and sunset if possible. Wish me luck, I have a few dodgy bus rides ahead of me.
