We booked a two day tour along the Great Ocean Road. First stop off was a town called Anglesea, where there were loads of surf shop outlets roxy, quicksilver etc etc. all really good prices....was thinking if only i was here with mum!! but did manage to buy a pair of billabong flip flops for 10$ bargain!!! :) journey continued to Bells Beach renound for its surf...surprise surprise the day we were there no surf! in about two weeks the roxy surf championships are going to be held there or something. looked pretty good...i suppose surferes would say "totally awesome!". Carried on the road along to the "official" start of the road, and took a walk along the beach, waves are huge looked so cool. scenery though is so like england, weather however a lot better! We stopped off for lunch at Lorne. A little seaside village - had lunch on the beach, and attempted to go for a swim however was blumin freezing! at this point we were closer to the south pole than we were to perth! distances in australia is rediculous! Carried along the ocean road stopping off at various lookouts, gorgeous coastline! Last stop and where we were spending the night was Apollo Bay, we climbed up to the top of the cliffs to look out all across where we had just driven and the bay. White sand and massive waves! Our accomodation was amazing, really looked forward to making the most of that! Me and maya "bravely" voluntered to stay somewhere else with another couple on the tour, and was definattely a result we did! It was called The Unit, just been newly refurbished, had sofas, dining table, nice bathroom, and lots of cereal bread and milk! was so much nicer than the dorm everyone else had to stay in result!!! We all went out for a group dinner then to the pub....really good night, and randomly ended up at a house party with a load of germans....and DUTCH yes hayley thats rite DUTCH!!! lol hilarious evening, and at 4in the morning there was me,maya and spencer wandering the streets of Apollo Bay trying to remember where we were staying...so lost though we were going to have to sleep on the pavement!!! Next day after eating lots of toast and cereal :) (taking advantage of the freebies!!!) journey continued, first stop to see koalas and these parrot things....itsdefiantely the case of seen one koala seen them all! they are cute though. Next was the Twelve Apostles, however some had fallen into the sea, still impressive, twelve apostles is twelve stacks but i think its actually about 8 now and a few stumps! Next step Loch & Gorge, a gorge lead into a bay, totally idyllic, water still freezing, rocks looked amazing. Next was London Bridge and Arch, london bridge has previously fallen into the sea, so is now just a large rock seperated from the mainland with a razorback ridge, shaped by the wind, pictures dont do it justice. Went for another walk along a beach the cliffs were huge, waves were huge and the dead penguin was sad...lush walk....and we saw filming being done, not quite sure for what some sort of bollywood music videa....good setting....but didnt look as though it would be a hit! was such a long drive back to St Kilda, we slept all the way on the minibus. very good couple of days!
