The day had finally arrived! I was going home to Israel for the weekend.
I must have checked the time a hundred times during the morning and couldn't wait to finish morning classes. As soon as I had finished teaching, I ran up to my room and packed and repacked my suitcase. I tidied up my room, went downstairs for lunch and finally, oh finally it was time to leave. Oleg, our school driver, drove me to the train station at Nachabino. He was really sweet and carried my suitcase for me all the way onto the train. My land travel took almost as long as my flight home. It took 3 hours to get from school to the airport and the flight was 3,5 hours. I started off travelling by car to the train station, took a train to Kushino station in Moscow, metro from Kushino to Paveletskaya and then the aeroexpress train to Domodedovo Airport.
This airport is probably the worst I have ever been to. They have over 150 check in counters and the board with the departure details is all the way over at counter 1. That is literally the only board they have on the check-in floor. Fortunately for me, ELAL flights are always at counters 1-5.
After checking in, I went through border control and went in search of something to eat. As with every airport, everything is ridulously overpriced. I had a salmon sandwich which was really dry and a berry juice. I paid 760 rouble (85 NIS) for my snack.
After what felt like ages hanging around the airport, we eventually boarded and because I forgot to prebook my seat, I ended up sitting right at the back! Possibly the worst seats on the plane! Fortunately though, I did get a window seat.
