So we are currently here in Pai, and have been now for 2 nights. We finally arrived here on the 9th after taking an overnight bus from Bangkok to Chaing Mai and then another 4 hour bus to here. But we made it. We found a really cute little place to stay for just 250 bhat (aprox. 3 pounds) a night. The town is really small and quiet but we really like it. We have managed to book onto a bus on the 11th to head for Chaing Kong on the border of Laos, where we hope to get to Laos by boat tomorrow. We are trying to get out of the country before the 12th as this is when Songkran (Thai new year water festival) starts and then we would be stuck here until the 16th.
It seams that in Pai Songkran starts early though as for the last 2 days we have not been able to go outside without getting soaked by the local children, even the little monks come out of the temples armed with water pistols, its really funny.
Today we decided to rent a moped, I have been tempted before as everyone seams to do it here, but Pai seams the ideal place as it is so quiet. We went on a hunt for a waterfall and failed to find it. Although being quiet here the mopeds do seam no. 1 target for the water throwers, so by the time we returned we were wet through.
We have armed ourselves with water guns but it isnt much of a defence when the children are coming at us with buckets.
Well thats about all for now, my next update may be from a different country so thats exciting.
