Well we caught our flight to La Paz on Thursday. In the taxi on the way to Tarija airport I noticed that there were lots of women digging up a walkway - the Bolivian attitude is to give more a people a job even if it is far too many people working in one place! Bit gutted today because when we checked out of Arthy´s Guesthouse and got our bill, we discovered that, in fact, it isn´t cheap at all and is actually 5 pound per person a night, which sounds cheap to you guys but for Bolivian standards that´s expensive. It´s been great while I´ve been ill (caught up on all the lastest DVD´s and been able to sit in my PJ´s) but 10 pound for a twin room with no brekkie is a bit steep. Oh well you live and learn! Well we´ve had an interesting five days. Tuesday was a very busy day which started with free pancakes at the hostel, nice change from bread and ham. We then puffed our way up the hill, it´s surprising what altitude sickness does to you, to the colonial Calle Jaen, the oldest part of La Paz. Have arrived in La Paz after a bit of a nightmare. Basically we went to check into our LAN airlines flight yesterday from Rio to Santiago and were told that we weren´t book on the flight. Oh my god PANIC! After speaking to the ticket sales desk we realised that because we didn´t take our flight, with the same airline, from Santiago to Mendoza in July (we decided to take the bus instead!) it meant that all our LAN airline flights had been cancelled.
