Today we did the tourist thing after emailing our friends We rode the hop on-hop off buses and found them well worth the time and money. Since they are for 2 days tomorrow we'll spend some time at places we liked. Gretch took pity on me and had me in the room by 4 and she went out exploring and getting supplies. Our breakfast was an omelet with hungarian sausage. We wanted to get out early to beat the traffic and the heat. Most of the early part was on the main road and traffic was light and picked up as the day moved on. We opted for the south side to see Visegrad, worth seeing. Today was one of my best days on this trip. First it was along country roads, quiet though often rough, and sprinkled with nice people. Most of the route was through small villages where we would stop at the markets to get something to drink. Some was along dikes and it was all peaceful. There is nothing like a wind assisted ride to end a day early. We were in camp (85k) by 1430. The route followed dike most of the way to Hainberg. Here we took pictures of the famous Venetian Gate and took a long break. Surprisingly there are at least 5 other cycling couples going the same way. Another night with campers talking until the wee hours. I slept and Gretchen was kept awake until 2am. Too bad, this was a great camping place with free wifi, a place to charge everything and someplace to sit. We rode out at 7 for Vienna. Todays ride was by the river with few towns. We covered the 88k to Vienna by 1300 and that was with two stops. We crossed a bridge to an island upon reaching Vienna and ran into a whole bunch of nudists. What a shock! Fortunate...
