DAY4 Monday 01.02.2010
Lake Nakuru, Kenya
Rhinos, Zebras, Water Buffalos, Anthilopes, Gasells, Giraffes, Monkeys, Lions, one Leopard, thousands of Flamingos and many other birds and animals. That was our first day on Kenyan safari.
In the morning our driver Lawi was waiting already in front of the Bush House hostel us while we were just waking up already. We knew that there is long way to Lake Nakuru and lots of hours to be in car. Before we even reached Nairobi Lawi asked to borrow 200 Ksh (2€) for fuel that we can make it to center. It was rush our so it took an hour although we chosed the fastest way. From Center of Nairobi we picked up one german woman named Sigrid who looks much younger than she really is. Sigrid was with us the whole four days safari tour. We stopped to see landscape at view point where a local trader asked Sigrid if Kari is her husband? Sigrid: ''not yet :D'' A few minutes later another trader asked Heikki if Sigrid was his girlfriend? Then Sigrids question for the boys: "are you brothers?" SECOND time already!
Lake Nakuru is very beautiful national park. In front of it's entrance some 'Beckham' just reversed to the rubbish bin. After that one monkey had a dinner on that same bin and another monkey climbed up on to the roof of our car and almost jumped inside but Jenni's screaming scared it away. Good start for the safari!
On the safari we just drove from place to place all around Lake Nakuru by car, which was made for that reason. It means that the car has some kind of special roof, which can be lifted about half meter up. We were lucky in Nakuru Lake cos we were told that we can't see all those animals we saw. During safari Lawi's handy batteries died and he needed phone to call other guides to discuss where are the best animals. Heikki gave his batteries and safari continues..
