Lucy and I were in London for Halloween and did not know what to expect. We arrived with no costumes, but that was quickly taken care of. Grace and Lucy went upstairs for about an hour and when they surfaced Lucy was Princess Lea and Grace was Darth Vader. We were so impressed that they could wrangle up costumes without having to buy a thing! Very resourceful I must say. They looked great and were able to borrow a light saber from Willem the younger brother. Cynthia dressed up as Snow White as she does every year and I was a witch. Joy and Bob were pirates, and Vicky and Natalie were pumpkins. We sat outside on the steps and at about 4:30 the treat-or-treaters started coming. It was absolutely adorable to hear the accents! Think of a cute little princess saying "thank you very much" in this thick British accent. Or a little boy saying "I'm Harry Potter" and he sounds like the real thing! The crowd kept growing and growing and I have never seen so many children on Halloween in all my life! We sent Andrew out to the grocery store to get more candy 3 extra times! There were so many children that we had to have two of us giving out candy at once, and the stream never stopped. And when I say stream I mean 10 kids at a time constantly! We finally had to close the door around 9:30 because we couldn't keep buying candy. The funniest thing was that I have never had my picture taken on Halloween before, but I guess since there were so many adults in costume, people wanted to take our picture. Moms were having their children sit on the steps with us and take a picture. It was crazy! Most importantly the children were so polite and everyone had a great time.
