Queenstown was our last stop in New Zealand with Connections! The afternoon kicked off watching Hannah and Ricky throw themselves off the Kawarau Bungy before we head into Queenstown (So called because it is fit for a queen, apparently). The following day I was booked into do a Queenstown combo package of the Shotover Jet, helicopter flight, Luge and gondolas. The Shotover jet ride is awesome, the jet can operate in only a few inches of water as it has in internal propeller and cam go at such a speed. The ride took me through the Shotover river canyons, I was at the back far right which got a little scary as the driver takes the boat as far as he can towards the wall as he can before turning around, or taking in a 360 spin as if its nothing, so exciting, I would have loved to go around again as the time went so quick! A few others from my group went on their tour after me so I hung around and got a few photos of them taking their trip before heading back into Queenstown to kill a few hours in the shops and taking in the scenery of lake Waktipu which is so stunning, the water is such a lovely shade, before heading on the scenic flight over the mountains, ski resorts and lakes of Queenstown.

It was then my turn to ride on the Luge carts down the racetrack, I had 5 tickets that I thought I would never use up as the activity isn't particularly something I would usually do, but it was such fun and I wanted to keep going back. I did nearly have one very spectacular crash off the side of the track but recovered (just) in time, and to think they let me have a driving license. It was then time to take in the scenery from the top, Queenstown certainly is a stunning place, before heading down on the gondola to queenstown to prepare for drinks at the Ice Bar! The ice bar was great, little smaller than the one in London I think but they have loads of really interesting (!) ice sculptures and with cocktails at $5, a great way to start the evening. We then made our way around a few more bars and head onto one of the larger clubs/bars, that I cant remember the name of, for a few more drinks, Vodka, Raspberry and Lemonade, I would recommend it, before heading off to our hostel.

The following morning early but not so bright we head off to wave the rest of the group goodbye as they were heading off onto the last 3 days of their trip. After quite a few hours sat in a coffee shop we decided to see a little more of the town. We walked all around the gardens which were beautiful, real picture postcard stuff and had a look at the many statues around the lake before capping off our Queenstown, and sadly New Zealand experience, with a apparently iconic Fergburger, which was pretty darn good! I have had the most incredible time here, the country and the peoople have been great and I hope that I get the opportunity to come back some time! Next stop, Australia!
