Berlin, Germany
We started our day in the city of Frankfurt, where we had spent the night after a 23 hour flight from Sydney. After getting to the Hauptbahnhof (Central Railway Station), we had time for a quick breakfast before getting on our train to Berlin.
Germans are renowned for their efficient running of transport and this trip was a prime example of that efficiency. No delays . The train left on time, and was only a few minutes late due to track work on the way. After arriving at Berlin Hbf station, we decided that we were going to use this mode of public transport for the days we are here. Efficient and easy once you get the hang of it. So we jumped an S Bahn train to Friedrichstraße where our hotel is located and checked in before heading to the VIP lounge upstairs where we had some snacks and drinks and discussed the next few days and what we wanted to do here.
Tonight we attended a concert by the world famous Berliner Philharmoniker Orchestra. Ruth loves her Classical Music, and to start this trip celebrating her this way was something I was looking forward to as well - and it was well worth every moment seeing her being enveloped in and enjoying the music of Sibelius, Tchaikovsky and Schumann for a few hours. The orchestra was quite brilliant as well
