We arrived in Prague in the middle of a heat wave, not ideal for Scottish skin. And not ideal for walking round cities!
On day one, we hired a pedalo and spent an hour sipping Czech beer and pedalling down the Vltava. Good fun and we got a breeze and a wee chat with some fellow pedalo-ers. We were gutted, however, that we did not get the pedalo shaped like a swan.
Night time was dinner and drinks right on the river side in a floating restaurant.
Next morning we joined the free walking tour. Free walking tours are our new favourite thing to do in life. Although we were getting baked in the Prague sun! The guide today was a Czech guy called Philip, not quite as eccentric as the girls in Amsterdam and Berlin, but a good guy! We saw the opera building, the main gate, the astronomer's clock, and the national museum building where Hitler's right-hand-man lived when Czechoslovakia was under German rule (disclaimer - I have completely made up the names of these buildings, but these are defo what they were).
After the tour, we had lunch and a wander up to Prague castle. Found the castle, took some selfies and pics, then discovered it was not, in fact, the castle, but a big cathedral in the centre of the castle grounds. Very impressive nonetheless and despite the sweltering heat, we walked round a fair bit of the city.
Prague is a beautiful city. The buildings are all really ornate and intricate, and there is so much history here. Even though the Czech's had a rough time after WWI, the city seems quite liberal. Above all, the buildings, bridges, and the beer stand out here.
The next thing on the agenda is our first taste of the sleeper trains! So far, we've managed to get our beds organised and pjs on, and we are just about managing not to die from heat in the pokey cabin. Sleeper Train Selfie to follow.
