Too Cold For Penguins
Hello Everyone!
Hope you're all well! Well the Royal Parental visit came to a close last Saturday after two weeks of debauchery and drunkeness. We spent a few days sight-seeing in Bangkok, the Chatuchak Market, various Wats and Buddhas, the river, Khaosan backpacker district and The Grand Palace.
We then took the bus and ferry to the island of Koh Chang in the South East near Cambodia for just over a week of relaxation. The resort we stayed at was a very luxurious retreat for a couple of weary backpackers and we felt well and truly pampered by the end of it. There's plenty to do on Koh Chang. We hired a jeep for the day to explore the island, kayaked to a nearby island, went elephant trekking, scuba dived at Koh Maak and participated in the water-frisbee championships at the hotel.
We returned to Bangkok with a day to spare which we spent on a thai long-tail boat cruising the canals, visiting the floating market (nice but only a few boats) and then spent some time wandering aimlessly around the China Town street stalls.
We are now officially more worn out than we were before the mob visited but we had a fantastic time and really enjoyed the company and the beer :-) (and being spoilt rotten).
We're stuck in Bangkok due to the Buddhist New Year Festival until this weekend now which puts up behind schedule by an unexpected week, so we may have to change our route considerably making Cambodia our next stop instead of Northern Thailand, but watch this space...
Keep well and keep in touch! Let us know what you're all up to!
Love you all long time,
The Buddhas xxxxxxxxxxxx
