Too Cold For Penguins
Hello again!
We've spent the last couple of Days in Taupo and tomorrow we travel north to Rotorua. We entered a pub quiz on Tuesday night with a couple of nice locals, Rachel and Jimmy, we had a great time - came joint third, not bad considering the amount of alcohol we consumed!
Yesterday we took a boat trip on The Barbary yacht on Lake Taupo. What a fantastic trip! The yacht is 80 years old and was once owned by Errol Flynn, presumably 'the' Errol Flynn and not just some random bloke with the same name. It's now owned by Barbary Bill, an eccentric old sailor, a real character. We sailed out to the Maori Rock Carvings. We were under the impression before the trip that the carvings dated back to ancient Maori times, but apparently they were carved in the 1970's. Still impressive though!
Today we trekked to the Huka Falls and the Craters of The Moon, a volcanic field full of mud pools and steaming craters. Shattered now, but really worth it!
Keep in touch, Guys!
love Hels and Ben xx
