Too Cold For Penguins
Hi Everyone!
Update from the South Island... About a week ago we arrived in Queenstown and haven't stopped since. There's just too much to do here. Helen did a bungy jump on Tuesday over the Nevis River 134m up. Quote: "Totally breathtaking, I was too scared to scream!" Got to be one of the scariest things in the world, jumping out of a cable car, attached to just a piece of latex.
We moved onto Wanaka on Wednesday for 3 days of snowboarding at Cardrona. It was excellent! Several hundred bruises later and with a whole new vocabulary of four-letter words, we finally made it off the learner slopes and onto the green runs - yippeee! We saw a notice pinned to the wall in the kit store that we thought was quite cool and kind of sums up the Queenstown region (Wolverleys Most Wanted will appreciate this). It said something similar to...
'Life is not about arriving in the after-life safely with your body in pristine condition. It's about arriving battered, scraped and worn, skidding in sideways with bubbly in one hand and strawberries in the other screaming "WOO HOO!!" '
So, along the same lines, we're off on a high speed jet boat ride on the Shotover River this afternoon - WOO HOO! Back in Queenstown for the next few days then we head north to the glaciers.
New Zealand is ace. Loving it!
Keep in touch, Guys!
Love Ben and Helen xx
