The next six days, sailing across The Atlantic, were spent attending lectures, seminars, and matinee movies. In the evening there were cocktail parties and receptions followed by fine dining and entertainment. It's a hard life on board ship.
We heard Sir Alan Collins speak on 'The Anglo/American Special Relationship', 'The London 2012 Olympics', and 'New York, New York'; Jane Asher who spoke on her acting career and writing her cookbooks; and Glenmore Trenear-Harvey on 'Suburban Spies'. The seminars we attended were on Apple Macs and iPads. Since attending a lesson, Anna thinks she knows more than me; she may be right!!!!??
It was afternoon when we sailed up the Hudson River, having passed under the Verrazano-Narrows bridge and passed the Statue of Liberty, to our berth. After clearing customs we got a water taxi to Battery Park, seeing many sights from the Hudson River en route, and from there we walked to Ground Zero. We walked around the Memorial Water Falls and Garden, and observed the new Towers being built. This was a very moving experience especially after our last visit here in 2009, and having seen the destruction as it happened on television in 2001. We must come back again when it is all completed.
We are now at a Starbucks on 5th Avenue having walked to and through Central Park to The Metropoltan Museum of Art. Now off to Macy's.
