In 48 hours we will begin our journey to Europe! So exciting!
Our journey begins in Cleveland, OH on April 18, 2018 where we fly out of Cleveland Hopkins International Airport at 2:22 PM! A brief plane change in Chicago, and we arrive in Munich International Airport the morning of April 19th.
Day 1 involves lunch with the US Consulate at the Arnulfstrasse restaurant, a guided tour of Munich, and dinner at Hofbrauhaus Munchen.
Day 2, the 2019 Cohort visits the BMW home plant where we will meet with the VP of Communications Strategy where we will follow a car through a complete production process. Then, we will meet the Customer Relationship Manager of the GE Additive Customer Experience Center to learn about American companies who do business in the highly competitive European market.
Day 3 begins with a completion of the guided tour of Munich before departing for Prague, CZ. Along the way, we will stop in Pilsen to visit the Purkmistr Microbrewery.
Day 4 begins with a guided tour of Prague then a day of individual sightseeing and shopping for the Cohort.
Day 5 is back to work beginning with a visit to the Radisson Blu Alcron Hotel to learn about the evolution of tourism and hospitality after the fall of Communism. The afternoon involves a team role playing experiment that will provide a glimpse on what daily life would be like to take a job in a new country.
Day 6 begins with a visit to Benes a Lat, one of Czech's oldest engineering castings manufacturer. The afternoon is highlighted with a visit to one of Microsoft's international locations where we will meet with Marketing and Operations Lead of the facility.
Day 7 the 2019 Cohort is honored to be able to visit the Czech National Bank to meet with the Head of the European Union Administration and the Director of the EU and Internaitional Organizations Division. The Cohort will learn about Czech banking, the Koruna (the Czech currancy) and the debate about whether Czech should convert to the Euro. The afternoon involves individual sightseeing and ends with a farewell dinner at the Bastion Restaurant.
Day 8, the 2019 Cohort leaves Europe starting at the Vaclav Airport in Prague, a plane change in Frankfort Germany and another in Washington DC, arriving back in Cleveland Hopkins Airport at 11:24 PM on April 26, 2018.
