20-23 April
We arrived by ferry from Phuket and checked straight into Ibiza Pool Party Hostel which was a massive hostel on the beach front with a huge pool. Mel, Kerry and I were in a 6 bed which wasn’t as sociable as I thought it would be, also the staff at the front desk were very unwelcoming!
Phi phi was more touristy that I thought it would of been. There is a main high street where you can get massages, beauty treatments and a lot of small restaurants. We had our favourite restaurant which was very good value, I always had a chicken pad Thai and a strawberry shake! Delicious!
One evening we went and climbed the hill to see the sunset over the island. You had to pay a small fee once you reached the top of the many steps! The fee was worth it as it was very well maintained up there. There was three viewpoints and the main viewpoint was right at the top. It was very busy and you have to get there well I advanced to get a good spot. The sunset was pretty but it was pretty cloudy for us!
We also took a snorkelling day tour which went to various spots including Monkey Island and Maya Bay! The sea in Phi Phi was pretty impressive, it was crystal clear! Monkey Island was strange, it was a small beach area full on monkeys. I feel sorry for them as there are people going there everyday to take pictures and watch them! They don’t really have any private space! Maya Bay was also another place which I think tourism has ruined! We arrived and had to pay the National Park fee! When we turned up there was so so many boats and the island was full of tourists, mainly Chinese! We got off the boat and walked through the island To the other side, it was just too busy to take in its beauty! I can imagine it was stunning when tourists weren’t aloud to visit!
Nightlife in Phi Phi is so much fun! Ryan and Karl whom we met in Vietnam came and met us at Ibiza Pool Party, they did a pool party three times a week and it was crazy! It started for us about 3/4 and finished gone 11! I drank vodka red bull buckets in the pool! It was so much fun! I was on Ryan’s shoulders and Kerry was on Mels and we were having battles in the pool. After the party, we went and got changed for the night on the beach front. Along the beach front there are many bars, all have fire actors and cheaposh drinks. The drinks in phi phi were ridiculously strong, at one point I couldn’t drink it! Me and Mel did the fire skipping and didn’t last too long and at the end of the night we went to 7eleven to get a ham and cheese toasty!
