Check in at Heathrow was a nightmare, the French staff were quite frankly very rude to everyone considering nobody knew what they were doing because there was no straight forward signs to tell you what to do. We had to check in on the self service desk before we could go to the check inn desk and check our bags. However after going through the process twice on the machine I had to go to a member of staff anyway because it wouldn't let me check in! My boarding pass for both flights said I had an isle seat, so luckily I had a lovely English lady at the desk and she swooped my seats to window seats so that I had a view! I already don't like the French. -_- got through security fine before all the rush! That took me till 5.15am and I was boarding at 6.10am! Nothing what so ever was open in the terminal until 6am, only costa. So I went and got a bottle of water and charged my phone. Made a stroll to the gate and we were delayed because the plane had been changed last minute so we had to wait for buses to take us to the other side of the terminal for us to get on it. It was a tiny plane, only 22 rows back, I was 22a -_- we had tea and coffee, could just about keep my eyes open for take off and then I was fast-o, those travel tablets had definitely started to kick in quick! I woke up just as we were making our decent into Paris, I just about spotted the Eiffel Tower out! The landing was smooth took forever to get to the gate, and we were 20minutes late landing. Luckily the terminal was really quiet and very very straight forward! I got the metro train to gate M, forgot I had to go back through security so she took my water off me :(. The departure lounge was huge and so very posh French! Lots of caviar places and people drinking champagne (at 9am) the shops weren't the average WHSmith and accessories like Heathrow , it was all Dior, Chanel, Gucci! The gate was easy to find and boarding started when I got there but as I was getting closer to the check in desk the queue behind just kept growing! The amount of people on this plane was incredible!! It was indeed a double decker. But a brand spanking new double decker! I was row 50, seat A. Right at the very back of the plane. There were 10 seats in each row. I can't even remember the take off I had fallen asleep, I managed to watch 15 minutes of the grand Budapest hotel but then I fell asleep again, whether it was the boring film or the travel tablets I don't know, but that what I was like for more or less 6-7 hours of the flight, the man air hostess kept asking the lady next to me to wake me up for a drink and food. I had beer every time! :) didn't keep me awake though. For main dinner I felt a poking on my arm and my head was bopping around when I woke up to "would you like chicken or pasta ma'am musell" my reply was "'grunt' chicken please" it was very nice! Chicken in a broccoli and cream sauce with wild rice. And I have Brie and crackers and apple slices and this lentil stuff and a toffee slice of some sort. Watched frozen, well half of it and then I fell asleep again. Woke up to a poke for drinks. Then watched the other woman, yeaaaah, I managed to stay awake for that one. Back to sleep after another drink and they offered me magnum ice cream but I said no. Woke up with about 3 hours to go and I watched last vegas, and friends, they fed me AGAIN!! :( this time some sort of cheese quiche slice with a side of chopped onions peppers and cucumber, a Minging apple tart sort of thing which I tasted and nearly puked. And a small bread roll. I just want them to stop feeding me! :( then they brought around tea and coffee and muffins. I just had to say no. NO MORE!! Couldn't ell watch friends and read me magazine, had to go for a walk then and self service bar for lemonade! Just wanted the whole bottle I was so thirsty! Finally landed and the runway was right on the edge of the water! Thought we were going in! Thought I would be out within half hour! Little did i know they take the mickey at immigration! They were basically chatting and having an interview with everyone they seen. -_- I landed at 1.15pm I got through immigration at 3.10pm!! My bag was on the floor because they had to remove all the bags from the previous flights for the latest flights arriving, bit of a panic but I found my bag! Quickly took it out the bag and put the rucksack on. Walking through the arrival gates, had THE BIGGEST lump in my throat ever when I seen Ross, I nearly cried! It was hard trying not too! He face timed mum and dad in the airport and they were in bed it was strange if travelled back in time by such a long time! We went to the BART Caltrain to get our ticket and the train up to the Bay Area of San Francisco. Didn't really look outside the train at the view we were nattering the whole way! Got off at the civic centre/UN Plaza stop and it was a short walk down to our hotel, we got a little list though, we crossed over the road and lost our bairings for a while! The heavy smell of weed and the mass amount of homeless people was very overwhelming and quite surprising to us! I knew there were a lot of homeless people in America but this was incredible!! They are everywhere, and I mean everywhere! They have little scooters and some lucky ones have the motorised wheelchairs which are hilarious to see them having a sort of competition down the road with each other. I didn't feel unsafe amongst them, but then again they're my sort of people! Haha. I don't feel scared or intimidated around them. They weren't going to harm us they didn't really take much notice of us. Although we weren't hard to spot! Two massive rucksacks bouncing around the place! We got to the hotel, looked a little seedy, we had to press the buzzer on the metal gate to get in and then up a flight of stairs to the reception area, where we checked in fine. The price of the hotel was what I had calculated so that was all fine! Although next obstinate! We were on third flirt with only stairs to get us there, Ross panting like something else, he said he hadn't climbed stairs since he had arrived in America it was all flat. Haha! The room was a swipe card and has two single beds (bunk beds) little tv, and sink. Big enough for us and our bags. Clean bed sheets and the showers and toilets were down the corridor from us which was the first thing we done! Had a shower, clean and powerful showers! Quick change and out to union square for a look around and Ross was starving as he hadn't eaten all day! We spotted the trams! They're so cool. And Union square is so busy, it had a band playing and singing, everyone was salsa dancing! It was crazy, just like a pontypool on a Wednesday night! Haha. We went up to Chinatown, we went into Cathy's Chinese I think it was called, it was on a hill so over looked the streets, was nice to watch the trams go passed. We had rice and a prawn dish and chicken fish was nice and not too filling! Thank god. Back up to union square we were going to stay out and have a drink but we were so tired! We went into Walgreens, got some frozen yoghurt which was amazing! And came back to the hotel and watched some tv, it wasn't long before I was asleep though! Safe to say those travel tablets work mum!
