San Diego wasn't exactly what i had hoped for. It was pretty stingy where we stayed, lot's of young homeless people and hippies living around the streets. The backpackers was okay. we shared with two irish girls who kept coming home at like 5am in the morning haha. but we got 'em back by wakinng up at 6am and leaving early hehe. the first day we went to the san diego zoo and balboa park which was cool. very massive zoo with heaps of good enclosures for the animals. lots better than adelaide zoo!
the next day we went to san diego sea world which was also cool. saw the killer whales do their thing in captivity-Shamu which was a bit sad after seeing them in the wild but they are born and bred in captivity and love performing and have good carers and huge enclosures so i guess it was ok. we touched dolphins too which was amazing. its completely their choice if they come to you or not and the one i touched stayed next to me for ages, i touched his nose and face and his fins and tail which was so cool.
i also saw a baseball game in san diego-the team was the san diego padres, they played florida marlins and won by heaps it was heaps of fun, i loved it. i had to catch the public transport at night by my self too cos beth didnt come and this was a bit sketchy because of all the intimidating Mexican people but turned out ok!
we went to la jolla which is the 'famouis' ritzy beach in SD. No surf unfortunately so we just chilled out this day and caught up on some much needed relaxing time!!
all in all, SD pretty all right, it was interesting to see but i couldnt think of living in a place like that with average beaches...oh and its always overcast, and lots a homeless people...no thanks! Give me Huntington anyday!!
