Jason & Baebs or: Work is Overrated
- 7am: wake-up time. We spent the night wild camping and have to be up before the ranger comes around
- 8 am: this seems quite a relaxed spot and we decide to have breakfast right there
- 9 am: wash last nights and breakfast dishes (we had home-made popcorn at the drive-in movie theatre) and have another coffee. Enjoy the view overlooking the ocean and read a bit
- 10 am: do some yoga right by the ocean
- 12 pm: head into town, check the internet in local video store, shop for work clothes at the Salvation Army, by a bike helmet (mandatory in Western Australia) for Jason at the fire hall sale
- 2pm: on our 120km drive to our next camping spot
- 2:30pm: granola, nut and preserve tasting… Jason gets a bit a too big a taste of the spicy chilli sauce. it lived up to its name, spicy all right ;-)
- 3pm: wine tasting at the Mad Fish winery… after we've tasted our way through their tasting list (it was long) we end up buying a bottle of late harvest Riesling… very yummy
- 4:30pm: Organic olive oil tasting and more preserves
- 5pm: venison and emu salami and cured meats tasting… we end up blowing the budget and shop like crazy… venison striploin steaks for dinner tomorrow night..
- 6pm: setup camp in Contos Campground, a national park. No drinking water here so we head to the free bbq area and start boiling water for the next few days
- 8pm: tonight's dinner is low key… frittata and a tossed salad, with (of course) a bottle of red.
- 9pm: hard day - in bed early, more reading. Since the daylight savings change the sun sets pretty early and it's dark around 6.30pm. it's going to be another cool night - we are right by the ocean and the sky is clear and packed full of stars
This pretty much is what a day of ours looks like at the moment. Instead of all the tasting there could be a hike along the coastline (we'll post some pictures of that later) or a couple of hours at the beach, swimming, going for a run and more reading. The weather seems to keep up, even though we are into fall now and we keep our fingers crossed that we can enjoy a few more weeks of gorgeous beaches down south before leaving this area and heading north.
