We have spent the past 2 days in a tropical paradise called Phu Quoc a small island off south west Vietnam nr Cambodia. It's amazing! Blue sea and White sand. Day 2 of our Mekong delta tour. We visited the floating markets- over 100 boats selling wholesale fruit and veg. To me it all looked pretty chaotic! There were boats selling everything, in order to know who was selling what they would string up from their mast a sample of the produce. We took a leisurely trip down some of the smaller rivers. Early start from our dive of a hostel- won't be sorry to see the back of that place. We had to be at the bus collection point by 7.30, with all our bags. We had just enough time for breakfast before being loaded on to a tiny bus full of mosquitoes- the joy of warmer weather! We arrived late in to HCMC. The hostel was a total dive! This is clearly NOT the manner to which I am accustomed! Roo informs me this is normal?! We ran out of time to cycle back to Hanoi from Cat Ba. We were sold expensive tickets for the fast boat supposed to take 45 mins, it ended up taking 2.5 hrs. We then had to find the train station in Hai Phong, using the pointing picture book we found the station and managed to get tickets for the train, 1st class with bikes on board for £3 each!!
