We woke up after a heavy night out around Niagara!!! ended up going to hard rock and getting wasted before heading into one of the Casinos until 5am! not good, although danny did manage to win $310!!! it was a right laugh the whole night from start to finish. a Swiss girl called Steph joined us as she was travelling alone around the US for 2 weeks, she was a nanny from Vancouver. she couldnt stand up by the end of the night, danny made sure she got to bed ok ;-)!!!!
We all rented bikes again and headed down to ride the Maid of The Mist. all poncho'd up we boarded the boat and headed for the main horseshoe....... once there we were welcomed with not a mist but a full on hurricane generated by the falls! it was crazy! the sheer force of the water creates a gale force wind and driving rain which soaks you to the bone! it was soooo funny though after, we all looked like drowning rats! soon dried out though as it was a nice 27 degrees. we went and grabbed some food and a quick game of crazy golf!!
we went back to the bikes where we had locked them up to only find that they had gone! oh no!!!! we finally found them though, the hotel which we had left them at said we were blocking a fire route and was a health and safety hazard! i didnt realise we were back in England with all the H&S crap! they had snipped our locks which wasnt great. we managed to hide the fact they had been snipped though when we got back to the hostel. "quick leg it lads"........to the greyhound for a 14.5 hour trek through canada to Toronto, before heading through London, Winsor, Detroit then finally Chicago, our port of call.
we met a nice guy in Toronto called Ian who was an english actor over here, he was heading to see his parents, told us some interesting stories of some commercials and films he was doing! killed a couple of hours anyway. the rest of the trip we all slept really, arriving in Chicago at 5:30am!
we headed to our new digs which where north of the city centre called Arlington House, a nice area with bars, restaurants and the beach only 10minutes away! the hostel its self though was quite scary, a big old house with long colourless corridors and dim lighting!!! our dorm was the largest there sleeping 22 people!!! managed to bag myself a decent bunk though with adam just above me!
we went for a walk down to the beach, along the lake front and into the city centre for a quick shop, we bought an American Football to play with on the beach and headed for Oak St Beach for a kick around! the day turned out really nice, 28 degrees infact so a nice burnt face and shoulders where on the cards for all.
by 6pm we where all pretty tired and fancied an early night with a couple of beers to sort us out, 10pm we hit the sack. plan is we stay put for 4 more night and spend a little time in the city and on the beach, weather permitting. maybe catching a ball game tonight. looking to rent a camper for our departure on tuesday!
