We're now in Vietnam... and it was a bloody nightmare getting here! After our last blog which ended with "we're definitely getting a sleeper bus for the 24 hour journey to Hanoi", it turned out there were no tickets left for the sleeper buses so we had to get a local bus afterall.. for what turned out to be a 27 hour journey!!! The good news is we bumped into Paul (the South African guy from Vang Vieng) and Patrick (Paul's German mate!) in Vientiane...

From Vang Vieng we went to Vientienne (for what we thought would only be a day) to sort out our Vietnamese visa's and then head over the same day to Hanoi on a over night bus, but as most things happen on our travels nothing quite works out as we plan. After making our way to the Vietnam embassy and waiting for them to open we were annoyed to find out that it worked out no cheaper getting our visa direct than what it would of cost to get it done from our guest...

We're now in Vang Vieng which is the land of 'tubing', eeeehhh! We've been excited about this since reading about it in a magazine back in Chiang Mai... and it lives up to all expectation!!! Luang Prabang is a small Laos town situated on the Mekong with a huge French Influence which is apparant as soon as you step foot off the boat with the hundreds of fresh bageuttes sellers on the side of the roads.
