Well i seem to be flying round the North Island in many more ways than one! definately embracing everthing there is to do in New Zealand, such as . . . . . .
In Rotorua there is the absolutely the unmisslable adventure sport of zorbing! For those not familiar, go back to those days when you used to put your hamster in those clear plastic balls and let in run riot around the house. Exactly the same concept but you are the one in the plastic ball, rolling down a huge hill, with 2 other people and a heap of water, and what do you get. . . . zorbing! I have never laughed so much in my life i dont think, watching others do it is absolute comedy, doing it yourself is non stop entertainment! When you get to the top of the hill you are greeted with you zorb, with a whole in the side of it in which you have to do a 'superman' style dive into the ball. Once all safely in a heap at the bottom on the ball, you push yourself over the edge of the hill, and feel like you are in a quick rinse cycle in a washing machine! Genius!
Then once recovered from zorbing, the next form of entertainment comes in the form of Lugeing! This can only be described as going down different levels of winding (specially set) roads on the edge of a hill and through forests. To do this you use a plastic go cart with two gears go and stop! Lovely juvely! If, as found out, you are boys, the break is just decoration, but so are the cuts and scraps down the sides of your body when you fall off! I however did use the breaks more often than not, as i saw my life lfash before my eyes on many occasions! All in the name of fun eh!
Also in Rotorua you get not get away from the fact that there are geysers everywhere you go, blowing out steam and water constantly, watching where you go is a must! but someting that wont be missed about Rotorua is the fact it is called Rotten-rua for a reason, it absolutely stinks! This is due to tectonic plates moving underneath the surface, dont care it STINKS!
Next on the agenda, Taupo. . . . . . .
