Erm, right first things first as many people have pointed out I've been a bit of a lazy b***** regarding this website so thought I'd sit down for a while and write a bit of an update. I'll try and keep it pretty concise and include the more interesting bits that I can remember.
Before leaving Phuket had a couple of pretty interesting nights out. Had met back up with Matt and Dears along with a couple of their other friends and, as the tonsilitis had left me we thought it'd be a shame not to sample a bit of the local fun. For those who haven't been to Patong Beach in Phuket it's pretty load, rammed with lady bars (and Lady boys) all trying to get the "handsome" men to have a drink and part with their money. We fell into one and proceeded to play a few drinking games involving hitting nails into wood with the side of an ice pick (not too sure why). Before long we were all nicely sozzled and headed to another bar where for some reason we thought it'd be a good idea to be pole dancers. After a quick workout on a pole we headed to an Irish Bar (where I'd return later) before heading to the local nightclub. The whole night gets slightly hazy as far as the night club's involved but I returned to the Irish bar and, thanks to my Irish roots, persuaded the owners to give me free beers while I sat down and slagged off America to an Ex Navy SEAL who, luckily enough, didn't kill me with his bare hands.
After a bit more carnage in Phuket I decided that, as I had to leave Thailand for a Visa Run, a couple of weeks in Malaysia would be a good idea. I have to say that the Country has some excellent scenery. I enjoyed a couple of jungle treks in the Cameron Highlands and a few beers with some Irish guys, chilled out on Pangkor Island and know Kuala Lumpur like the back of my hand. But it really is very hard to find a decent night out anywhere. I got charged 4 quid for a beer in KL, Pangkor Island closed down at 10pm and the Cameron Highlands were wet, cold and rainy. Having said that a couple of weeks off the beers was probably a good idea considering what was to happen next.........
Jessica Priestley is what happened next. My lovely friend from home who I met for one night only in Bangkok and managed to absolutely break me. After 2 weeks pretty much off the beers I can strongly recommend staying off Mai Tais, 6% lager, GnT's and 4 million Vodka Red Bulls. It was a brilliant night though. Went so see a "show" in Pat Pong and I never realised how far Banana's etc can be shot out of a lady's Hoo Hah. People were jumping out of the way as it seemed to be raining yellow fruit. We then proceeded to another lady bar where I took up the challenge of the bar maid to a Connect 4 Competition. I quickly pissed her off by wiping the floor with my Connect 4 skills which she wasn't used too, as it's her job to play all day, and then she tried to overcharge me. Don;t really remember getting home but I definitely appreciated the spare bed in Jess' 5 star hotel that night.
Following this mental night in Bangkok I proceeded to get the 10 hour Train down to Koh Phagnan for the legendary full moon party and a couple of final nights out with Matt, Dears and Gemma. I was feeling terrible on the train but it turned out to be a bit of a party carriage. Everyone on there was pretty much a traveller heading down the same way and the attendants sold us a load of beer, I hooked up the iPod speakers and we basically had a great time before hitting our beds (yes beds) before transferring to a boat and heading to the Island. The days leading up to, and the actual full moon party, are pretty mental. Ten Thousand people all dancing on a beach and going crazy. The nights out we had were pretty hilarious and we encountered some extremely strange people, including "The Navigator" who's job for 6 months of the year is as a Navigator on a cruise ship. It seemed that he spent the other 6 months of the year off his head dancing!!
Thats about all for the update. I'm now on Koh Tao doing my PADI course. Did my first proper dives today and it was superb. Have a few boys from home arriving in a few days and can't wait to see what happens next!!!
