Our first port, Ketchikan Alaska, was a nice visit. We took a float plane tour to Misty Fjords and the view was spectacular! After a yummy lunch at Annabelle's restaurant, we took the Duck Tour to learn about the town, the island, the local culture. Ketchikan depends on tourism 5 months each year, but they also supply about a billion pounds of fish.

Our early arrival into Juneau allowed us a bit of shopping/walking time, but the rain was gloomy. Our excursion began around 1:15 when we boarded a van for a 20 min ride to the marina where we joined Captain Steve of Marv & Harv Whale watching tours. It was great! We saw a rare behavior called "bubble netting" in which the humpback whales work together to trap herring inside a wall of bubbles, so they thrust up through the water to capture about 15,000 gallon...

Flight to Seattle early tomorrow. Cast off around 5 p.m. Since internet access may be sparse, no promises about how often I will post, but will take notes and photos to share eventually! I'm happy to have a house-sitter watching after Katy's kitties and the pool...really puts us at ease. Goodnight for now :-)

I'm officially excited and mentally packing for my next adventure. Bill and I are going on an Alaskan cruise (yes, I said BILL!) and besides the beauty we will see, am looking forward to quality time with BFF from way back :-) We cast off on Tuesday and I'll try to keep the blog updated....but if delayed, I promise to get back to it!

WOW! Just Crazy how our time in Cozumel turned out...I thought that since our itinerary was changed (date in this port moved to end) that our planned excursion would be cancelled...but, I got a phone call at 8 a.m. from Frank saying that he was waiting for us! WHOA! Not even out of bed yet! SO he said it would be no trouble to wait and meet us at 10:00. We climbed into a jeep with JC (Jose Carlos) and had the perfect day of fun!
