I am in Paradise! This is a dreamy landscape of wild dirt with Palms and mango trees, dusty roads with colourful birds and Howler Monkeys. I am in the oasis of a hot and thirsty land and I am loving it. We are spending three days in San Juan Del Sur on the pacific coast of Nica.
There are so many great moments here at Rancho Chilamate but my favourite is reconnecting with my old friend and inspiration Heather Blue VanDoornick. Her beautiful dream has come alive here in the most amazing way....a horse ranch in the tropics with a guest hacienda to welcome in world travellers. I had the privilege of spending time at her Guest Ranch in BC many years ago and now am even luckier to visit her here. It is a very special place. We may not have visitedNicaragua if she weren't here. And I am so glad she is. She has created a fabulous open air home in the hills and it is amazing!
Though Chris and I are adventurous we are not the horse riding type. We did however visit Escalita beach for the magnificent ride today to watch the riders gallop in the waves. What a delight to discover that it is the same beach as Survivor was filmed on for the San Juan Del Sur episodes. Some of you know my delight in Survivor so this was a thrill!! We watched the sun set there yesterday and shared a glorious meal around a large table of happy travellers. Amongst the peace of this place is the haunting sound of the howler monkey, grunting and growling early in the morning. The warm winds blow thru and the breeze cools the hot heat of the day. The pool beckons! And the hammocks invite us to relax and dream and believe in the possibilities that lie ahead. Paradise indeed!
